I recommend that you treat your dog with a medicated chlorhexidine  shampoo which is a bactericidal shampoo and thereby relieves the level of itching. The shampoo can be bought without a prescription at a pharmacy or from your veterinarian. There are a few different brands, e.g. Pyoderm, Clorexyderm, Duoxy Pyo, so ask which varieties are available where you shop.

There are also chlorhexidine pads, such as Duoxo Pyo pads, which can be used locally, for example, in inflamed skin folds.

Shampoo the dog every other day for a week by:

1. Mix a few tablespoons of shampoo with water and it lasts longer.

2. First wet the entire coat with water.

3. Distribute the shampoo in the coat and massage it carefully and gently into the affected skin areas. You can also use the shampoo as a foot bath if the itching mainly concerns the paws.

4. Let the shampoo work for at least 10 minutes and then thoroughly rinse out all shampoo residue.

5. Dry the dog thoroughly after the bath, preferably using a hair dryer.

If the coat becomes dry, you can use a conditioner, which can also be bought at the pharmacy or from your vet. Used when needed.

If your dog does not stop scratching within a few days, contact the vet for an examination so that the correct treatment can be instituted as soon as possible. Remember that itching is often painful for your dog!
